Knysna Tourism CEO Shaun van Eck said that the town was getting ready to welcome the newest major South African cycling event to its already impressive stable of competitive outdoor events. “The Cannondale Garden Route 300 will take place on the 25th, 26th and 27th of February 2011,” said van Eck. “And it promises to be three adrenaline-filled days.”
According to organisers Louise Wilson Hemmes and Patric Mosterd, the event will prove to become one of the ultimate rides in South Africa, hosted by Knysna. “The route incorporates all of the best rides in and around the town and stretches over 300 kilometres in three days,” explained Mosterd.
Wilson said that this extraordinary race was tailor-made for like-minded mountain bike fanatics. “The routes take riders through some of Knysna’s most stunning natural surroundings,” said Wilson. “And our organisation means that there is no hassle of lugging your kit around from truck to tent to truck.”
“The event promises to present participants with a great vibe,” Mosterd continued. “We encourage riders to do their warm-up ride from their B&B or home and join us at the start for a rusk and a cup of coffee before the day’s adventure begins.”
Van Eck encouraged out of town entrants to visit www.visitknysna.co.za
to book accommodation. “Knysna is excited to host this new event on the national cycling calendar and we look forward to welcoming all entrants to our beautiful town,” he concluded.
